Maybelline Colour Tattoo Eyeshadows : Swatches and Review

The Maybelline Colour Tattoo eyeshadows have been around for a while now, and are hyped up all over the interweb, but are they worth the hype?

They claim to be a long lasting, ceaseless pigmented eyeshadow that doesn't fade over time. Would I say this is true? Absolutely yes.

I have extremely oily eyelids that take only a few minutes to crease and shift most eye shadows, leaving me looking like a mess. Which is particularly a problem when faced with the Australian humid and sweaty summer. These shadows, however, last through even the hottest of days. They also make a great base for layering powder shadows over the top and are easy enough to use on a day to day basis.

Claims:

"Dare to wear 24HR shadow.
• Ink technology creates 24HR wear shadow for our most intense, long-lasting color saturation
• Cream formula glides on without creasing and keeps color vibrant"

So here's the run down:

Price: They retail here for around $11.95 at Priceline, but you can often get them on sale for less

Weight: 4.0 g

Packaging: Round glass pot with plastic twist on lid.

Consistency: Creamy and smooth in texture. Very easy to blend

Fragrance: No noticeable smell or scent at all.

Application: Can use a small rounded brush, or finger to blend across eye lid. Can also easily build up intensity without caking. As you can probably see in the swatches above, the painted purple wasn't quite as densely pigmented as the others. I'm not sure if mine is faulty? Or if the formula is slightly different with this shade?

Longevity: Will easily last 12 hours, not sure of the 24 hour claim as haven't left them on my eyelids for that long.

Colour Range: Great colour range, with some neutrals (bad to the bronze, tough as taupe) and some vibrant shades for a pop of colour (tenacious teal, painted purple).

Finish: All have a slight shimmer/sheen, except the Tough as Taupe shade
running through and all are very pigmented.

Overall impressions: Great, easy to use eyeshadow creams. Perfect for make-up beginners or professionals of all ages. I'm sure from the swatches you can easily see that the shade Bad to the Bronze is my favourite and I find the most easily wearable. A fantastic addition to your makeup collection.

Have you tried with them? Did they last up to the claims for you?
